The problem
Most accounting work looks backward – filing a return for a year that’s already finished. Tax planning looks forward: understanding what decisions now (salary vs dividends, timing of income, use of allowances) affect what you’ll owe later, while there’s still time to act on it.
What’s included
- A review of your current tax position
- Guidance on director salary and dividend planning, where relevant
- Identification of allowances and reliefs you may not be using
- A plain-English explanation of the trade-offs in any recommendation
Who it’s for
Business owners and directors who want to plan ahead rather than only react at filing time – particularly useful alongside limited company accounting, where salary and dividend decisions have a real effect on the tax bill.
How it works
We review your current position and plans for the year ahead, then talk through options and their trade-offs – this isn’t a one-size-fits-all product, so the conversation itself is most of the value.
Pricing
Quoted individually based on what’s being reviewed – get in touch to discuss your situation.
This is a newer part of what we offer. We’re building it out alongside our core compliance work rather than launching it all at once – get in touch to discuss whether it’s the right fit for your business right now.
FAQs
Is tax planning the same as avoiding tax?
No – this is about understanding and making full use of legitimate allowances and reliefs you’re entitled to, and timing decisions sensibly. It isn’t about aggressive avoidance schemes, which we don’t recommend or arrange.
Do I need this if I’m just a sole trader with simple income?
Not usually to the same extent as a limited company director – the salary/dividend trade-off that drives most of this doesn’t apply to sole traders in the same way. It’s most relevant once there’s a company, multiple income sources, or bigger decisions on the horizon.
